Frequently Asked Questions

What is the JBox?

The JBox is a modern music system based on the old fashion Diner-Type jukebox where customers could select music at their table from a small box. Like the Diner-Type jukebox, the JBox also allows customers to select music at several different locations placed throughout the area where music is played. The JBox, however, uses today's technologies to provide a modern, compact, easy to use, cost-effective, high quality music system.

What is the JBox User Unit?

The JBox User Unit is the part of the JBox that the customers sees, interacts, and uses to select music. The unit itself is only 20 inches high and weighs less than 20 lbs. Yet, this small box provides a easy-to-use interface allowing the customer to access thousands of songs at their finger tips. (See the picture to the left.)

Where is the Music Stored?

The JBox system also contains one Music Unit. It is here where the music is stored and played. The Music Unit is about the size of a toaster and it usually sits next to the stereo system

Can I use my existing stereo system?

Yes. The JBox Music Unit connects to any standard stereo amplifier or receiver.

How much music can the JBox hold?

The JBox Basic system can hold over 600 hours of music. In other words, it can play for about a month, 24 hours a day, without playing the same song twice. Upgrades are possible to further increase the JBox music capacity.

How does the music get entered?

Flip Technologies will provide with the music preloaded into the JBox System.

Can I Choose What Music is Entered Into the JBox?

Of course! It is your establishment; you should decide what you want to be played. Flip Technologies has thousands of songs to choose from. Flip Technologies will even enter any special, unusual music that you own (on CD).

What if I want to add or delete music to the JBox?

No Problem. Flip Technologies will update your JBox in the field (up to twice a month). The JBox also keeps track of what music has been selected to let you know what your customers want to hear.

What is the "Behind the Bar" Unit?

Optionally, the JBox has a unit that is designed to be used by the employees of an establishment. This unit is only 7 by 7 inches and can easily mount in any crowded area. The "behind the bar" unit does not have a currency validator. Instead it has special features which are useful to the establishment's employees. These features include music skip, and selecting the available music categories. Employees can also play music with this unit, but paying customers always gets priority in the music queue.

What if no one has selected any music for a while?

The JBox has a Random Mode where, after no music has been selected for a period of time, a song is chosen at random. You can even choose a music category you wish the random song to be chosen from; or from all categories.

How is the Music Chosen?

If you can operate an ATM Machine you already know how to operate the JBox. The JBox uses a Menu System for song selection. The Menu is implemented using switch keys and a LCD Screen on the User Unit. The switches represent different sections with different menu screens. A typical selection involves sequentially choosing a music category, an artist from that category, and then a song from that artist.

Is there a Licensing Fee for the JBox?

Yes. Unfortunately, the RIAA requires a jukebox music licensing fee for music played in public at commercial establishments. The fee will also cover music updates, maintenance, and payment cards (if Applicable).

Is the JBox guaranteed?

The Jbox is guaranteed for parts and labor for one year

How much does the JBox cost?

There are any different configurations to the JBox. To get the best quote contact your representative at Flip Technologies.
